New EPs, albums and singles are on the way in April from a wide-ranging group of Pittsburgh area musicians.
Here’s a quick look at those new local releases scheduled for the Pittsburgh region in April:

Pittsburgh noisecore trio Flash Thunder will celebrate its third EP, “Resonant Yaw,” with a 7-inch release show April 4 at Government Center on Pittsburgh’s North Side.
The new 7-inch “comes screaming off the presses with five new heaters,” according to the band, courtesy of the Gold Fang Worldwide label.

Pittsburgh musician Dan Petrich released his first all-instrumental record, “Soundings,” on March 27. He’ll hold an album release show April 4 at Acoustic Music Works on Pittsburgh’s South Side.
“It explores and integrates different styles including American Primitive, ambient and field recording,” Petrich said of the album, which can be purchased on his Bandcamp page. “The songs feature acoustic guitar, banjo and even ukulele.”

Indie/alternative band Friends For Sale drops a new single, “Rehearsals,” on April 4 from the band’s upcoming album, “Whatever Keeps You Up At Night.”
“The entire album is based around a haunted theatre/stage performance,” guitarist/vocalist Baker Legate said. “‘Rehearsals’ itself is about a jealous actor murdering a famous actress to take her spot on the stage.”

Jazz guitarist John Shannon and his trio will hold a vinyl release show for “A Day in Tarifa” on April 9 at City of Asylum in Pittsburgh’s North Side.
“This is actually my debut jazz record,” Shannon said. “I’ve put out other records, but this is the first one where the writing is jazz centric and for a classic organ trio.”

Pittsburgh groove band Norside will release a new single “T-Bone” on April 10 on the Color Red Music label ahead of their new album, “Coal & Soul,” which will come out in July.
“Simply put, this song has some grit, gristle and grease to it, just like a T-bone steak,” the band said. “This tune helped forge the approach of how we wanted to craft our sound in the studio: grittier, soulful, raw and funky. Its a testament to what we call the Rust Belt sound.”

Singer-songwriter Daniel Attali, a Pittsburgh native, will release a new album, “7 Hours,” on April 10.
The album is “a culmination of Attali’s personal and artistic growth between high school and college … (shifting) effortlessly between genres ranging from bedroom pop, singer-songwriter, folk, funk, art pop and even musical theatre, telling his story as only he can,” according to a release.

Hugo Cruz & Caminos will launch their new album, “Figure It Out,” with an April 15 show at City of Asylum.
Cruz, a drummer from Cuba who moved to Pittsburgh several years ago, melds R&B with Cuban funk, jazz and traditional music.

Forest Counties, the recording project of Eric Stevens (aka Michi Tapes), will release a live, solo 12-string guitar album, “Creek Embouchure,” on April 15 and playing April 22 as a trio at Mattress Factory.
“The themes exist as a medley of fluid meanderings in Open C and Open G tunings respectively,” Stevens said, “referencing previously recorded material in the Blue Pine universe through real time interpretations, improvisations and playing through the anxiety of exposed music in front of a gazing audience, trying to forget the room, to transcend and bring the people with me.”

Gritty rockers The Semi-Supervillains are dropping a new single, “Silver Dollar,” on April 15.
“We thought that a money song would be great to release to the world on tax day,” Vinnie Longhi said.
Pop Baby’s new EP, “Uncovered.” (Pop Baby)Pop Baby
Pittsburgh pop musician Pop Baby will release his new EP, “Uncovered,” on April 17. He’ll hold an album release party on April 11 at Local 724 Studio in Beaver Falls.
“‘Uncovered’ is about having the things about yourself you’ve kept hidden for so long finally come out,” he said. “This is not just a musical record for my fans, it’s the permission to break free from the chains of insecurity and self-doubt and to be exactly who you are no matter what.”

Pittsburgh metalcore band Desolence will release their new album, “Dominion,” on April 18, with an album release show that same night at the Funhouse at Mr. Smalls in Millvale.
”’Dominion’ is an album that sonically explores the various genres of metal that we all grew up on, from thrash to death to metalcore to hardcore mixed with some progressive and pop punk elements, to build a rich foundation to thematically explore that dark voice that lives in the back of your mind,” the band said.

Hip-hop artist Connie Roses will release a new single, “Blindfold,” on April 28 as part of a collaborative project with producer andiekyte.
“As AI grows more abundant in our everyday lives, so does its grip on multiple artforms, ultimately hurting artists and the culture at large,” according to a release. “‘Blindfold’ explores this idea through a slow and rhythmic manifesto that paints a picture of lost hope and continued anguish due to the manipulation of our many art forms that are misconstrued and metamorphosed into products instead of expression.”
