The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra announced some schedule changes from canceling events to postponing others through June 14.

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra concerts through mid-June will be either canceled or postponed, officials said Monday.

The changes are being made because of ongoing restrictions from public health and government entities related to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This crisis has hit hard the performing arts community, and the Pittsburgh Symphony is no exception,” said Melia Tourangeau, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. “While I had hoped that we would not have to change these concerts and implement cost reductions, the financial implications are clear. These are particularly difficult decisions to implement especially after everything we have accomplished over the past five years.”

In response to the continued COVID-19 health crisis, we are making changes for concerts through June 14th. Until then, we'll continue to share the power of music online through Extraordinary Measures and want everyone to stay safe and healthy❤️Read more → https://t.co/qdbWMRhv3t pic.twitter.com/IVwewtZMS6

These are concerts that are canceled:

May 29-31— BNY Mellon Grand Classics “Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique”

June 5-7— PNC Pops “The Doo Wop Project”

June 12 &14 —— BNY Mellon Grand Classics “Beethoven Seventh”

Some events are in the process of being rescheduled, the release said, such as the Ben Folds show, and An Evening with Honeck & Mutter & Williams.

There are still some online musical offerings, including concerts from the archives and other educational resources. Subscribers can donate tickets or apply to a future concert in lieu of a refund.
