PSO offers weekly concert footage, other online music programs
Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will launch a web series at 8 p.m.Friday featuring its performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, “Pathétique,” recorded live in May 2016 at the Berlin Philharmonie in Germany.
Music Director Manfred Honeck will host; bonus footage will provide Honeck’s insights into the performance.
The symphony will remain available for free viewing for 45 days.
Archival concerts will continue to be posted weekly on the website, as part of the symphony’s “Extraordinary Measures” programming, which also includes:
• “Bright Spots,” with music and insights shared by PSO musicians and special guests through regularly posted, self-produced videos.
• “Make Time for Music With Fiddlesticks,” for children ages 3-8 and their families. Vocalist Katy Williams will share music from her home.
• “Practice! Practice! Practice!,” offering tips and techniques from the PSO for middle and high school instrumental students.
