Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band returns to Pittsburgh in June
Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band will play PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on June 18, as part of the second leg of tour dates initially planned for 2020.
The former Beatle and his supergroup originally were scheduled for a June 20, 2020, date in Pittsburgh that was canceled because of the pandemic.
The tour commences May 27 at Casino Rama near Toronto, Canada, and ends Oct. 20 in Mexico City.
“It is so great to finally announce all these shows we had planned for 2020, and I am really looking forward to playing them,” Starr said in a news release. “I can’t wait to see all our fans, and, until then, I’m sending everyone peace and love and see you soon!”
The tour band includes longtime All-Starrs Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart and Gregg Bissonette, along with All-Starr alumnus Edgar Winter.
During the past two years away from touring, Starr has released two EPs, “Zoom In” and “Change the World.”
He also has released two books, a limited-edition retrospective hardcover titled “Ringo Rocks: 30 Years of the All Starrs 1989-2019” and the newly announced limited-edition retrospective, “Lifted: Fab Images and Memories of My Life With the Beatles From Across the Universe,” both published by Julien’s Auctions.
The former Beatles drummer, now 81, founded the All-Starr Band in 1989, with a shifting lineup of players that has included Joe Walsh, Nils Lofgren, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Levon Helm, Rick Danko and other rock superstars.
The band’s sets generally feature songs sung by Starr, from The Beatles’ catalog and his solo career, along with the biggest hits from band members’ respective groups or solo careers.
Starr’s solo hits include “It Don’t Come Easy,” “Photograph” and “Oh My My.”
He has twice been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, first as a Beatle and then as a solo artist. Along with the other Beatles, he received an Academy Award for the Best Original Song Score for the 1970 film “Let It Be.”
Also an actor and photographer, he was knighted in 2018.
