The award-winning Argus Quartet will perform Feb. 23 as part of the 47th season of the Saint Vincent College Concert Series.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. in Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica in Unity.

Comprised of violinists Clara Kim and Jason Issokson, cellist Joann Whang and violist Dana Kelley, the quartet has gained a reputation as one of today’s most dynamic and versatile young ensembles, and is dedicated to reinvigorating the audience-performer relationship through innovative concerts and diverse repertoire, according to the concert series.

The quartet’s repertoire includes staples of the chamber music canon along with many pieces by living composers.

Founded in 2013, the Argus Quartet was the first-prize winner at the 2017 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition, and has performed in a number of premier venues, including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Zankel Hall, the Albany Symphony’s American Music Festival, Bang on a Can at the Noguchi Museum, the Hear Now Music Festival, James Madison University’s Contemporary Music Festival, Princeton University and the Shalin Liu Performance Center at Rockport Music.

Since fall 2017, the group has served an appointment as the Graduate Quartet in Residence at the Juilliard School in New York City, where the members work closely with the Juilliard String Quartet. Argus made its Lincoln Center recital debut in May 2018 with a performance at Alice Tully Hall.

Recent commissions include new quartets by Donald Crockett, composer and Grammy nominee Eric Guinivan, the 2014 Hermitage Prize winner Thomas Kotcheff and Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Juri Seo.

The quartet has worked with students at Yale University, James Madison University, Rockport Music, the Milken School, the Young Musicians Foundation and Princeton University.

A ticket to the Saint Vincent concert is $26; students and children 12 and younger will be admitted free. A reception with the musicians will follow the program.
