A performance by the Duquesne Piano Trio will open the Summer Chamber Music Series in Unity Chapel near Latrobe.
The trio will play selections from Haydn, Beethoven and Russian Romantic composer Anton Arensky at 7:30 p.m. June 13 in the historic chapel at 114 Chapel Lane, Unity.
Formed in 2013, the trio comprises Adam Liu, cello, Charles Stegeman, violin, and David Allen Wehr, piano. All three musicians are faculty members in the Duquesne University Mary Pappert School of Music in Pittsburgh.
Wehr and Stegeman were longtime colleagues in the Sartory Trio, which toured internationally for Columbia Artists. Liu is assistant principal cellist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Other performances in the summer series are Trio Phonon (harp, flute, cello), 7:30 p.m. July 25; and Beo String Quartet, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
General admission seating is $10.
Proceeds benefit the Westmoreland Symphony Youth Orchestra Program. The series is underwritten by the Charles F. and Mary Esther Sawyer Music Fund of Latrobe Presbyterian Church.
