There ain’t nothing wrong with rocking on a Saturday night.
The Menzingers came through Pittsburgh, playing the Roxian Theatre in McKees Rocks, and brought a great energy for an hour and 15 minute set for a fun show.
The healthy-sized crowd was with the Philadelphia punk band from the time they hit the stage about 10:05 p.m. to when they finished their twp-song encore about 11:20 p.m.
Those at the show, many of which seemed to have had at least a few beers, sang along with many of the 20 songs played, including “The Obituaries,” belting out the song’s bridge into the second chorus.
In addition to “The Obituaries,” “Good Things,” “Tellin’ Lies” and “I Don’t Wanna Be an (expletive) Anymore” were among the songs that got the biggest crowd reactions.
The Menzingers’ songs have this energy and spirit about them that translates best in front of a lively crowd, which the band certainly had Saturday night.
Scranton’s Tigers Jaw, on before The Menzingers, played a great set before their tourmates. Both bands have this musical accessibility that makes their songs work in basement shows and venues with balconies, like the Roxian.
Tour openers Culture Abuse had a medical emergency and had to miss the Pittsburgh show, as well as Philadelphia the night before. They were replace by Pittsburgh’s The Homeless Gospel Choir.
