Trace Remains, a melodic post-hardcore band from Pittsburgh, is back with “Zero Hour,” the first single from the group’s upcoming “Zero Hour” EP.

Filmed in Pittsburgh, the video visits Downtown, with scenes near the Benedum Center and the Pennsylvanian, as well as a bar fight in Spirit Lodge in Lawrenceville. Other stops included The Vandal restaurant in Lawrenceville and Dad’s Dog & Burger in Downtown.

“This song touches on subject matter that arose on the previous record, namely starting over again after a loss of some kind … whatever that might mean to the listener,” said singer/guitarist Joey Vesely, who founded the band. “It could be the loss of a career, a relationship, a loved one, or even just the notion that you’re walking the wrong road day to day. So what does it mean to leave that road and start walking on a different one? It’s not easy, but there’s also a sense of freedom in letting go. The song also touches upon themes of betrayal, double-crossing, resiliency and triumph.”

The EP, recorded locally at Red Caiman Studios and The Church Recording Studio, is set for a summer release.

Trace Remains includes Vesely, guitarists Joel Grimes and John Perry, bassist Anton DeFade and drummer Chris Hawthorne. Formed in 2017, the band released their debut album, “Leverage the Tides,” in 2024.
