Watch the trailer:

Variety reports the series “will go into the most intimate aspects of Wiz’s life,” with archival footage from his career. The series will feature interviews with Khalifa’s family and closest friends, reports Variety.

The trailer opens with video of a young Khalifa promoting an early performance and doing an in-store event with sparse turnout.

His mother talks about the early days when just a handful of people showed up to see him perform. Supporters recall Khalifa’s confidence and perseverance through the lean times.

Born Cameron Jibril Thomaz in North Dakota, Khalifa settled in Pittsburgh as a boy with his mother and attended Taylor Allderdice High School. He began writing and performing his songs as a kid in Pittsburgh.

The trailer closes with Khalifa rapping to thousands of cheering fans.

Executive producer Michael Strahan told variety, “Wiz and I both share a passion for family, friendship and hard work, and that’s exactly what you’ll see from him in this series. We’re excited to team up with Apple Music and give the world an intimate look into the rise of an entertainment icon.”
