The epic struggle between good and evil will play out in “Jekyll and Hyde,” Greensburg Civic Theatre’s 68th-season opening production.

The sweeping Gothic musical based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story, featuring a score of pop rock hits, will be staged at 8 p.m. Oct. 17-18 and 2 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road.

Directed by Vince D’Angelo of Oakmont, the cast of 24 features Vince Tresco of Plum in the title roles of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde.

D’Angelo, who directed “Frankenstein” last season for GCT and “Dracula” several years ago, is a former teacher with decades of community theater experience.

In addition to Tresco, the cast include Breanna Deutsch of Greensburg as Emma Carew, Barbara Rolla of Greensburg as Lucy Harris and Josh List of Greensburg as John Utterson.

Musical director is Eric Barchiesi of Penn Township, an attorney by trade, leader of the Eric Barchiesi Trio and a musical director or accompanist for various area theaters and schools.

Choreographer Leyna Wright played the role of Lucy in “Jekyll and Hyde” at the Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale in 2018. Wright teaches dance at various locations and choreographs for Greensburg-Salem High School’s spring musical and chorus concerts.

Thomas Arillotta of McKeesport serves as stage manager in his first GCT production.

Advance tickets for the Oct. 17 preview are $15, $13 for students; or $17 and $15, respectively, at the door.

Advance tickets for Oct. 18-19 performances are $18, $16 for ages 55 and up and $13 for students. Tickets at the door are $20, $18 for 55 and older and $15 for students.
