Pitt-Greensburg raises curtain on ‘Young Frankenstein’
“Young Frankenstein,” the Pitt-Greensburg Theater Company’s spring musical production, opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Ferguson Theater on the Hempfield campus, 150 Finoli Drive.
Other show times are 7:30 p.m. April 5 and 6 and 2 p.m. April 7. Tickets at the door are $10, or $5 for students, those with Pitt ID and senior citizens.
The musical, written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, is adapted from Brooks’ 1974 film. The show features songs such as “The Happiest Town in Town,” “Transylvania Mania” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”
The production serves as the senior capstone project for three visual and performing arts majors: director Brandon Farneth, who also plays the monster, choreographer Nicole Hill and production manager Taylor Oberle.
Stephen Schrum, associate professor of theater, is the producer, while faculty member Christopher Bartley is musical director.
Cast and crew numbers 25 students. Performers include:
• Scott Gerse (Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein), an information sciences major from Monroeville
• Cameron Scott Collins (Frederick Frankenstein), a junior secondary education/history double major from Titusville
• Austin Grau (Igor), a first-year student from New Kensington
• Kerigan Fabery (Frau Blucher), a senior secondary education/English writing double major from Nemacolin
• Emily Buckel (Ziggy), a third-year creative and professional writing/English literature double major from Republic
• Alyssia Williams (Inga), a sophomore international business/Spanish double major from Monessen
• Joe Fitz (Inspector Hans Kemp), a second-year visual and performing arts major from Titusville.
