Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks needs cast for fall play
“Cymbeline” has been chosen as the 16th-season production for Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks.
The play will run in various parks on Saturday and Sunday afternoons each weekend in September. Early evening shows also are planned for Sept. 11 and 18 at Schenley Plaza in Oakland.
The tragedy is set in ancient Britain and is based on legends surrounding the early Celtic king, Cunobeline.
Auditions for “Cymbeline” are being held via video submission.
Actors’ Equity Association members and non-union actors are invited to audition. Performers should prepare a 1- to 2-minute Shakespeare monologue and also be familiar with the play.
Interested performers should email photo, resume and video submissions in any format no later than April 25 to info@pittsburghshakespeare.com.
“Cymbeline” will rehearse through August. Compensation is provided.
PSIP also will host a virtual session of its “Bring Your Own Bard” reading series on March 31 via Zoom. The meeting ID is 744-711-113.
Professionals and amateurs are invited to read from their favorite Shakespeare scenes. A warm-up and informal chat will begin at 7:15 p.m., with readings of scenes and monologues following at 7:30.
All ages and levels of experience are welcome to read or listen. A $10 donation is suggested for the session.
