Auditions for two upcoming productions are planned April 7-8 at the State Theatre Center for the Arts, 37 E. Main St., Uniontown.
Summer at the State’s 2019 season will feature “Mamma Mia” and another musical to be announced.
Both productions will have ensemble casts of 30-35 actors, singers and dancers. Performers ages 14 and up are invited to audition for both productions.
Actors interested in auditioning should prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of either show and should bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Head shots and resumes are not required, but actors are encouraged to bring them if available.
Actors may be asked to dance, sing or read following the vocal auditions. They should bring comfortable clothing for the movement or dance audition, including jazz and tap shoes if available.
The “Mamma Mia” role of Donna has been cast, but all other roles are open.
The TBA musical requires a large male ensemble. Females with dance training and/or tumbling experience may be considered. There is one role for a male child ages 9-13.
Rehearsals for both productions will begin in late May. The TBA show will run July 12-14, and “Mamma Mia” will run July 26-28.
Both productions will be directed and choreographed by John Wagner. The TBA musical will be music directed by Michael Rozell. “Mamma Mia” will be music directed by Joseph Andria.
