Century III Mall: Video showing mall's current state of disrepair hits 1 million views
A recent look inside Century III Mall in West Mifflin doesn’t paint a pretty picture of the once-bustling shopping center.
Water dripping from the ceiling pools in puddles on the ground. Broken ceiling tiles litter the floor. An empty water fountain and dead palm trees in giant pots serve as reminders of what the mall used to look like.
Urban exploration influencer Steve Ronin visited Century III Mall and posted a video to his Facebook account that shows the state of disrepair. Posted to Facebook on Sept. 14, the video has already surpassed one million views.
Century III Mall was ordered to close in February 2019 by West Mifflin officials, who deemed the property “unsafe and uninhabitable.” Anchor stores Dick’s Sporting Goods and JCPenney lasted a little bit longer, with Dick’s closing in March 2019 and JCPenney shutting down in October 2020.
