Ford Motor Company has recalled 652,996 vehicles because of a windshield wiper defect that could affect visibility for the driver.
On documents submitted with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford said the wiper arms may break, which would cause the wipers to fail and increase the risk of a crash.
The recall includes 2020-21 Expedition, 2020-21 F-150, 2020-22 F-250 SD, 2020-22 F350 SD, 2020-22 F-450 SD, 2020-22 F-550 SD and 2020-21 Navigator.
Dealers will replace the front windshield wiper arm at no cost to the driver. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 23, 2022.
“As of February 25, 2022, Ford said there have 257 reports of inoperative or detached windshield wiper arms on the 2020-2021 MY Expedition/Navigator vehicles, 380 on 2020-2022 MY Super Duty, 76 on 2020 MY F-150, and 41 reports on certain 2021 MY F-150 units that were built with an alternative higher torque wiper motor due to chip shortage issues.”
