Station Square bought by Massachusetts-based real estate firm
Station Square is under new ownership.
Massachusetts-based WS Development announced Friday it has purchased the sprawling restaurant, entertainment and office complex on Pittsburgh’s South Side from New York-based Brookfield Properties.
“Station Square has long been one of Pittsburgh’s most distinctive places,” said Jeremy Sclar, chairman and CEO of WS Development. “We’re inspired by its history and excited to build on that foundation as we imagine a future that sees this one-of-a-kind, mixed-use destination reach its full potential in serving the community and bringing exciting partners to Pittsburgh.”
WS Development did not say how much it’s paying for Station Square.
The firm has more than 100 properties across the country.
Station Square has fallen on hard times as of late. In December, lenders demanded $143 million from Brookfield in a mortgage foreclosure lawsuit.
Buca di Beppo and Joe’s Crab Shack shut down their Station Square locations last year and the Hard Rock Cafe closed in February, reflecting flagging momentum for the complex.
