The Apple store in Shadyside moves a block down the street.

This weekend, a new Apple store is opening on Shadyside’s Walnut Street — just one block away from its current location at 5508 Walnut St.

The new location is at 5436 Walnut St., the former site of the Gap store. The storefront is now dark brown brick, a contrast to Gap’s former light tan exterior.

According to signs posted on its storefront, the new Apple location will open at 10 a.m. Saturday to customers. It will be open until 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the Apple website.

As of Thursday, the old location a block away remains operational, and Apple products are still out on display for purchase.

The website says Apple in Shadyside is closed Friday, and then the hours resume at the new location on Saturday for the opening.

Apple is usually open in Shadyside from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily — except Sundays, when the hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
