A dental subsidiary of Highmark Health inked a 5-year deal with the Department of Defense.
United Concordia Companies, Inc. has been awarded a more than $3 billion contract to administer the Tricare Dental Program, which covers about 1.8 million active duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members and their families.
The contract takes effect on Dec. 1, 2024. It’s the largest single-carrier dental plan, according to the company.
The TDP, like civilian group dental plans, covers diagnostic, preventive and restorative services. It also includes comprehensive dental specialty care coverage. The Government pays 60% of the monthly premium for active duty family members and most categories of National Guard and Reserve sponsors.
