There will be another option for shopping this holiday season.
Von Maur will open its 38th store in South Hills Village Mall at 10 a.m. Nov. 9.
The company, headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, has been making its way east, said Melody Wright, chief operating officer for Von Maur, which has been in business for 152 years.
The company partnered with local contractors and other area businesses to renovate the former Sears space at the mall.
“The people in Pittsburgh are some of the nicest and most helpful folks,” said Wright, when asked about her experience in getting the store ready for the grand opening. “We feel like we will fit in well in Pittsburgh. We are a company that is focused on customer service, and we are looking forward to taking care of our customers at South Hills Village.”
It will be the first Von Maur store in Pennsylvania. There will be giveaways at the grand opening.
This is not the company’s first experience in the Steel City.
Von Maur also owns two Dry Goods stores, in Ross Park Mall and South Hills Village, which sell a wide range of the latest selections in junior contemporary women’s fashion, including clothing, jewelry and accessories.
The timing is right to open now with the holidays approaching, Wright said.
Danny Bishop, general manager at South Hills Village, agrees with Wright. Bishop said welcoming Von Maur to South Hills Village, especially ahead of the busy holiday season, is exciting.
“Shoppers will now have even more choices when it comes to finding the perfect gift or treating themselves to something new,” Bishop said. “Von Maur’s reputation for exceptional customer service and premium offerings adds a new layer of sophistication to South Hills Village’s already diverse selection of retail offerings.”
Von Maur has a philosophy to offer something for everyone and in a range of price points, Wright said.
The two-level, 118,000 square-foot store will feature more than 20 departments from traditional to modern apparel, footwear and accessories for men, women and children, along with a selection of gifts.
Von Maur carries a number of premium brands including L.L.Bean, Bobbi Brown, Rhone, UNRL, Good Good, Vuori, Peter Millar, TravisMathew, Hammitt, Varley, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch and Liverpool Los Angeles.
“We sell a broad assortment of items,” Wright said. “We can’t wait to open in South Hills Village. Our promise is that the customer experience should always be top notch.”
