There won’t be a Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven this year thanks to the coronoavirus pandemic.

The annual freebie event held on July 11 — or 7/11 — is being canceled for customers’ safety, according to the company.

Free Slurpee Day, held since 2002, is the convenience store’s biggest day of the year.

Customers can still get a free Slurpee in July, though. The company is offering a free medium Slurpee to people in its 7Rewards loyalty program.

“At 7-Eleven, our top priority is the safety of customers, franchisees and employees,” 7-Eleven Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Marissa Jarratt said in a statement.

“Gathering 9 million of our closest friends in stores on one day just didn’t feel right, but I am heartened that we now have the opportunity to help the communities and neighborhoods that have been the lifeline of our business since 1927.”
