Remember Isaly’s ham barbecue?

The one of a kind chipped-chopped ham in a tasty sauce served on a fresh bun.

A Pittsburgh favorite, it will be one of the items on the menu at BBQ, Bourbon & Brews. The food festival is from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Monroeville Convention Center hosted by GoodTaste! Pittsburgh, a company that specializes in culinary shows.

“You can’t have a barbecue event in Pittsburgh without the city’s iconic Isaly’s ham barbecue,” said Dee Weinberg, of Squirrel Hill, show producer. “Many Pittsburghers were raised with Isaly’s. It’s been around so long.”

They will also serve Isaly’s ice cream as well as barbecue ribs from Monroeville-based Holy Smokes BBQ Pit. There will barbecue chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw and other side dishes. And McKeesport’s BBQ Stu’s sauce.

Pittsburgh-based Wigle Whiskey will offer select bourbon pours. For beer lovers, there will be brews from Mighty Swell Hard Cider from Texas, Two Roads Brewing from Connecticut, Duck Rabbit Brewery from North Carolina, Terrapin Beer Co. in Georgia, Fat Heads from Ohio, Founders Brewing Co. in Michigan and Recon Brewing in Butler.

“Wigle is excited to sample and sell our new batch of smoked bourbon at the BBQ, Bourbon & Brew Festival,” said Meagan Paul of Wigle Whiskey and Threadbare Cider & Mead, via email. “With notes of burnt caramel and mesquite, it is the perfect whiskey pairing for a BBQ.”

“Pittsburgh’s food and beverage scene is exciting and vast,” said Weinberg. “We created this event to give locals a chance to taste the best of the Burgh’s beer, bourbon and barbecue sauces.”

This will be the first in-person event for Good Taste! Pittsburgh in more than a year.
