A Virginia brewery is looking for someone to take on the Appalachian Trail and drink beer.
As “Chief Hiking Officer” for Devil’s Backbone Brewing, based in Lexington, Va., just a few miles from the AT, the candidate will hike the entire trail in 2021 and get “some big ol’ beer parties along the way.”
The company posted on Monday asking applicants to send in a one-minute video explaining why they would be great for the job. Submissions are being accepted until July 31 with a winner being named in September.
The gig comes with some nice benefits including outdoor gear, travel to the trail head, beer (of course) and a $20,000 stipend. The winner will need to post to social media documenting their hike and share that with the company.
The 2,200 mile trail, which runs from Georgia to Maine, including 229 miles through the southeastern part of Pennsylvania, usually take several months to complete. Most thru-hikers start the journey in Georgia in early spring.
Devil’s Backbone Brewing, available in the Pittsburgh area, is owned by Anheuser-Busch.
