A new taste of Greece is coming to Pittsburgh later this summer in the form of the popular Mediterranean chain Cava.

Two locations of Cava will open this year, restaurant officials said.

An Oakland location will open later this summer at 3619 Forbes Ave. Another location will open later this year inside The Meridian, a new development at the border of Shadyside and East Liberty.

The Meridian development, at the corner of Penn and Shady avenues near Target, will include a Barnes & Noble, Market District by Giant Eagle, Shake Shack, Sephora, Sushi Atarashi and Wushiland Boba. There will also be rental apartments above the retail space.

ECHO Realty posted on Facebook that Cava would be joining the fray.

Cava, which sources its food from Greece, serves bowls, pitas, drinks, sides like pita chips and desserts, as described on its menu.

As of Monday, the two new locations are not yet listed as “coming soon” on the locations tab of Cava’s website.
