Chick-fil-A debuts grilled spicy deluxe chicken sandwich
The spicy chicken sandwich wars are heating up with another new entry.
Chick-fil-A added a grilled spicy deluxe chicken sandwich to its lineup on Monday, joining a menu that already features a pressure-cooked spicy chicken sandwich.
“We know guests are looking to add more variety to their meals, especially after a year where new food experiences were limited,” Leslie Neslage, Chick-fil-A’s director of menu and packaging, said in a news release. “The Grilled Spicy Deluxe offers the spicy flavors our guests have come to know and love, now available in a grilled option.”
The new sandwich features a boneless chicken breast marinated in a blend of peppers. It’s served on a multigrain brioche bun with Colby-Jack cheese, lettuce and tomato with an optional cilantro lime sauce.
Chicken sandwiches are big business in the United States, with Chick-fil-A estimated to have $11 billion in total sales for 2019. That success has spurred competition with successful sandwiches from Wendy’s, as well as Popeyes’ launch in 2019 that sold out its supply in its first two weeks.
Starting Feb. 24, McDonald’s will launch a new line of three crispy chicken sandwiches.
