Saying its band will be in “residency” in California, Chuck E. Cheese’s has announced the animatronic group is being pulled from almost all of its restaurants.

Munch’s Make Believe Band will be at Northridge, Calif., near Los Angeles, the company said in a news release.

The location will be a “nostalgic” site.

About 400 other Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurants are getting updates that include an interactive dance floor, a video wall and screens, kid-focused arcade games and, in some places, trampolines, the news release said.

“As an important part of the legacy of the brand, we know that the animatronic band holds a special place for many fans in their childhood memories,” David McKillips, president and CEO of CEC Entertainment, said in a statement. “We want our fans to know that the decision to keep the band here is meant as a gesture of love and gratitude as our legacy continues to evolve in new ways.”

Chuck E. Cheese’s is turning 50 in 2027. The chain has almost 600 locations in 47 states — including four in Western Pennsylvania — and 19 countries/territories.
