Country singer Luke Bryan is well versed in songs about fishing, with tracks like “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day,” “Tackle Box” and “Buy Me a Boat” in his catalog.

So it’s no surprise that the “American Idol” judge chose Luke Wholey’s Wild Alaskan Grille in Pittsburgh’s Strip District for a meal during his stop in the city last weekend.

“We exchanged a few fishing stories,” owner Luke Wholey said, “but I tried my best to give him space.”

Bryan, in town for a show on Aug. 19 at the Pavilion at Star Lake, dined on oysters, a captain crunch sushi roll and a cod sandwich.

“I was honored, out of all the places to eat, he chose my restaurant,” Wholey said.
