In addition to shopping for fruits, vegetables, baked goods and crafts, visitors to Saturday’s Ligonier Country Market can learn about Ligonier Volunteer Hose Company No. 1’s Tower 43.

Tower 43 is one of the most recognized pieces of fire apparatus in the Ligonier Valley, market officials say. It was constructed by the Sutphen Corp. of Hillard, Ohio, at a cost of $584,000 and placed in service in 2002.

Both a Class “A” pumper and an aerial device, it can pump more than 2,000 gallons per minute and reach nearly 75 feet in height, officials add.

Fire company members will attend the market to demonstrate its features and capabilities.

The Market Sprouts will gather in the children’s garden for a craft this week.

In addition, Girl Scout Troop 90003 will be selling Make and Take Slime.

They will return on June 22, July 6 and July 20. The troop is raising money for horse camp.
