A stalwart in the Downtown dining scene is calling it quits.

Mandarin Gourmet has been serving Chinese food on Wood Street in Downtown Pittsburgh for over 40 years, but is closing at the end of September.

According to an Instagram post, Mandarin Gourmet is not closing due to an eviction and has just decided to close.

The spot is located on the first floor of the YWCA building and is popular with Point Park University students. Mandarin Gourmet is located less than a block away from the Point Park campus and offers large portions of traditional Chinese-American dishes.

Fans of Mandarin Gourmet can purchase T-shirts with Mandarin Gourmet’s panda logo, according to the restaurant’s social media. Shirts can be bought at the restaurant at 305 Wood St.

Mandarin Gourmet was featured in the Fred Rogers film “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” starring Tom Hanks.

The restaurant’s last day of operation will be Sept. 29.
