Greensburg's White Rabbit Cafe and Patisserie open 7 days a week
Five years after opening in downtown Greensburg, the White Rabbit Cafe and Patisserie is now open on a daily basis.
The cafe at 113 N. Main St., is open Sundays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
The decision was both a response to customers’ wishes and becoming comfortable enough financially to hire and train staff for the extra hours, says owner Tommy Medley.
On Sundays, when repair and maintenance work is typically done, hopeful patrons often stopped by, he says.
“Innumerable people would try to come in. And that’s been happening for the last four years. … We finally felt comfortable enough to hire enough staff to open another day,” Medley says.
The timing is good, he says, as Greensburg continues working toward more redevelopment.
The cafe did little advertising beyond a few social media posts about its recent Sunday hours.
“We still got a really nice turnout. We did as much being open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as on a typical weekday,” he says.
“A lot of regular customers during the week still come in on the weekend,” Medley says.
Another demographic, ranging from students to weekday workers, patronize the business on the weekend as well.
“They want a place to go on Saturday, meeting for breakfast or mid-day coffee,” he says.
An extra day of business won’t immediately change the menu.
“We will kind of go with market demands — scones, muffins, quiche, frittata,” Medley says.
