Distillery Kingfly Spirits has closed its doors for good after seven years of serving the Strip District.
In a social media post on Wednesday, the distillery wrote “as of today, we are moving on to the next chapter of life,” stating that Kingfly would not be conducting future bottle sales, drink sales or allowing public access to the building.
The announcement comes just eight days after the company posted on social media that Kingfly would be undergoing renovation. By Wednesday, the bar’s phone line would no longer connect and the business, located on Smallman Street, was listed as permanently closed on Google.
Kingfly Spirits first opened in February 2019 by Blake Ragghianti and Mark Willson. Ragghianti previously told TribLive that he traveled around the world to learn how to fashion spirits and had wanted to open a distillery for years.
The building — once a horse stable — had been on their radar for three years before they officially opened, as previously reported.
Ragghianti and Willson could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
The distillery served as a bar and entertainment space, holding weekly entertainment.
Kingfly’s menu included cocktails, such as a highball using vodka, white rum, spiced rum, bourbon or limoncello. They also served classic drinks such as martinis and an old fashioned.
“If you still have a bottle of Kingfly on your bar, pour one out and raise a glass to our closing team here, as we are going out on a high note,” the closing post said.
On Wednesday, the post has 52 comments on Facebook and over 180 reactions.
“Ohhhh … i’m so very saddened by this news. Kingfly is, without a doubt, my favorite venue for dancing and was the first place I ever went to when I moved to Pittsburgh for a Salsa night. You hold a special place in my heart!” wrote a user on the post.
