Owners are unsure how long Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Downtown Pittsburgh will be closed after a fire this week.
Pittsburgh firefighters responded to the fire Tuesday evening in the restaurant located on the first floor of the U.S. Steel Tower. They contained it to the kitchen.
“We are sincerely grateful to the local fire department, police department and all emergency personnel for their swift actions Tuesday night. Thankfully, no one was injured, and we are now focusing our efforts on repairing the damage and reopening our Pittsburgh location as soon as possible,” according to the restaurant’s spokesman via email Wednesday.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse opened last fall at 600 Grant St. – the same week the U.S. Steel Tower celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The restaurant’s name was inspired by John L. Sullivan, a bare-knuckle boxer in the late 1800s. There are photos of him throughout, including a fight in Pittsburgh. Sullivan’s mission was to be “the best of the best,” Hoffman said.
Investigators were working to determine the cause of the blaze.
