Mark Addison created this colorful concoction, No Joke, in honor of the Oscar nominated film "Joker."

If you are planning an Oscar viewing party, it’s crunch time.

With the Academy Awards broadcasting at 8 p.m. Feb. 9 on ABC, hosts in need of libation suggestions might find it fun to pair a few of the nominated films with matching cocktails.

Each year entertaining expert Mark Addison, author of “Cocktail Chameleon,” a collection of “12 cocktails in 12 unique variations for 144 signature takes on the classics,” dreams up cocktails inspired by Best Picture nominees.

Addison has come up with Smokin’ Hot Margarita for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” Sundae Surprise for “The Irishman,” Old Fashion Cherry Bomb for “1917,” Bloody Soju for “Parasite,” No Joke for “Joker,” Mein Hare for “Jojo Rabbit,” Race Car for “Ford v Ferrari,” Manhattan Sunset and LA Sunset, both for “Marriage Story” and Brandy Punch for “Little Women.”

Below are recipes for two of those drinks, courtesy of Addison.

Race Car

1 ounce high-proof bourbon

1 ounce lemon juice

1 ounce Grand Marnier

Cut a lemon crosswise into wheels and lay on a cookie sheet lined with foil. Scorch one side of the lemon wheel with a culinary torch, allow to cool and repeat on other side. Pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour contents into a 6-ounce tumbler. Garnish with scorched lemon wheel.

Joker

¼ ounce grenadine

¼ ounce green crème de menthe

1 ounce crème de cacao

½ ounce heavy cream

1 ounce vodka

Well chill all ingredients prior to combining. Pour grenadine into shot glass. Use a measuring jigger to precisely measure out the ingredients. Slowly pour crème de menthe over the back of a teaspoon against the inside of the shot glass to layer the ingredients on top of each other so they do not combine. Continue with the remaining ingredients in the order listed until you have five distinct layers.
