Patron Mexican Grill on Highland Avenue in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood has permanently closed.

The restaurant at 135 S. Highland Ave. is boarded up with tan paper covering the windows. However, according to TribLive observations Wednesday, some of the light fixtures were turned on inside the establishment.

There is a Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Public Notice of Application for alcoholic beverages posted on the right side of the building’s window in the form of an orange sign.

According to the sign, the liquor license has been transferred to Hard Rock Cafe International, and the address listed is 230 W. Station Square Drive.

That’s the address of the former Hard Rock Cafe in Station Square, which closed early this year. Hard Rock did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

The last time the Patron in East Liberty posted on its Instagram page was May 1, 2023. In its bio, it says it’s a locally owned business.

It’s unclear when exactly Patron permanently closed its doors. The restaurant did not return TribLive’s request for comment on the closure Wednesday, and the location’s phone number did not connect when dialed.

Patron’s Monroeville location is also not operational, as it’s marked “temporarily closed” on Google.

Pittsburgh residents have been talking about the closures on the r/pittsburgh Reddit page.
