Pizza Hut announces limited-time test of a round pizza box and the Garden Specialty Pizza, topped with new plant-based Incogmeato Italian sausage, available in Phoenix, Arizona while supplies last.

Round pizza. Square box. It’s an ages old problem, but one pizza chain thinks it has a solution.

Pizza Hut is introducing a test of a specialty pizza with a plant-based topping called Incogmeato from Kellogg. The pizza will be delivered in a round box. Let that stink in - a round box.

Why didn’t someone think of this before?

The test of the pizza innovations will take place exclusively at one Pizza Hut location in Phoenix starting Wednesday. The combo - plant-based pizza in a round box - will be sold for $10 and be available in-store only.

The Garden Specialty Pizza is topped with Incogmeato Italian sausage, onions, mushrooms and banana peppers. The plant-based topping is from MorningStar Farms, which is owned by Kellogg. The pizza comes after Pizza Hut and Kellogg’s first collaboration with the Cheez-It Stuffed Pizza in September.

“We innovate for human’s sake and we’ll win on taste - period,” said Marianne Radley, chief brand officer of Pizza Hut, in a statement. The company sais the box contains less packaging compared to a typical square pizza box and it is also industrially compostable (where available.)

The company said the box came after two years of testing.
