Pizzeria Davide opens location in Carnegie
There is another slice to the Pizzeria Davide pie.
The Carnegie location joins pizza shops in Robinson and the Strip District.
The restaurants are owned by Aimee DiAndrea and Dave Anoia, who also have DiAnoia’s Eatery and Pane e Pronto, an Italian takeout bread and catering kitchen, in the Strip District. The bakery opened in October.
The Carnegie spot opened a week before Aimee DiAndrea is due with the couple’s first child, a girl.
“We are glad Carnegie is up and running before our daughter came,” she said. “With so many people spending more time at home for school and for work, pizza is something they can all agree on. It’s also quick and it travels well.”
They purchased the Carnegie property in June 2019 and had planned to open last June. In the meantime, the spot in Robinson became available and was an easier turnaround, Anoia said. It opened in June instead.
The pizza restaurant idea came from the pie served for lunch at DiAnoia’s Eatery, where the plan is to reopen for indoor dining in March.
The original pizza is described by Anoia as “an old-world-style” 18-inch pie.
The name comes from the Italian spelling of David.
The pizza sizes at Pizzeria Davide locations are 12, 16 and 20-inches.
They also serve salads, appetizers, sandwiches and dessert. It is open for takeout. There will be outdoor seating on the deck once the weather improves.
“Order it and we will bring it out to your car,” Anoia said. “Pizza is very covid-friendly.”
What’s next for their business?
“We are always on the lookout for good spaces, and ways to expand our business,” Anoia said. “We often get emails about locations that are available. And when we are driving around we spot places.”
Pizzeria Davide is located at 221 2nd Ave. in Carnegie.
