Sly Fox Brewing’s pub location on Pittsburgh’s South Side is officially closed.

In a Facebook announcement posted Tuesday, Sly Fox said even though it was “encouraged by the continued development of The Highline,” which is where the location was located, “evolving market conditions and performance trends made it difficult to maintain the level of operations required for long-term success.”

The Highline is a redeveloped cargo warehouse along the Monongahela River.

Sly Fox made the decision to close “after long consideration,” according to the announcement. It was officially closed as of Wednesday.

The closure news comes after Legacy Realty Partners announced in early February it was looking for someone to serve out the remainder of Sly Fox’s lease in the South Side space. The announcement also said Sly Fox’s brewing equipment is up for purchase.

Until this week’s Facebook post, Sly Fox had not confirmed the closure.

“We are incredibly grateful to our loyal guests, our hardworking front-of-house and back-of-house team members and our managers who made Sly Fox at The Highline such a special place,” said John Giannopoulos, CEO of Sly Fox Brewing Co. “Their dedication and passion brought energy to the space every single day.”

The company said it “remains confident in the long-term vision and success” of The Highline project.

“Since opening at The Highline in 2022, Sly Fox has been proud to contribute to the continued revitalization of this historic property,” the announcement said. “The Highline property will welcome a new tenant this summer, ensuring the space continues to be an active and vibrant destination on the South Side.”

Sly Fox said its Downtown Pittsburgh pub at 300 Liberty Ave. remains open.
