South Hills Village adds Condado Tacos
Condado Tacos is opening a third location in the area at South Hills Village mall.
The expected date is late February or early March.
“We are so excited about this newest restaurant,” said Hannah Vlk, brand manager for Condado, based in Columbus, Ohio. “Pittsburgh is a market we love being in.”
Vlk said this will be the company’s 23rd restaurant.
It joins restaurants in Downtown Pittsburgh and in Lawrenceville.
The new space will be located on the upper level, with an exterior entrance near Macy’s at South Hills Village. It will have a large patio and occupy 4,780 square feet.
According to a news release, the build-your-own concept at Condado Tacos allows diners to create their meal from a variety of taco shells, proteins, toppings and sauces. Menu items include BBQ pulled jackfruit and tequila lime steak.
There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
The restaurant will feature a full bar with an assortment of 100% blue agave tequilas and Condado Taco’s signature margaritas such as Sparkling Margarita, Gran Classico and Pineapple Express.
Menu items are the same in all locations. Drink options vary by state, Vlk said.
The Spanish fare will fit in nicely to the mix of dining choices at the mall, said Shema Krinsky, area director of marketing for South Hills Village. She said health and wellness options are important to the modern shopper.
“South Hills residents will love the trendy, new taco, tequila and margarita hot spot right in their backyard,” Krinsky said.
Each Condado Tacos restaurant features a celebration of art. The company works with local artists to paint the walls with street-inspired art that’s a reflection of the community, Vlk said.
There will be 12 Pittsburgh artists working on the mall restaurant’s design.
“Artists put their own spin on it,” Vlk said.
The theme which is graffiti and hip-hop forward content, said Condado Tacos’ art department creative director Lindsay Pilko in a statement. She updates the progress of the artists on Instagram.
“Our love for street art is a huge part of our brand; we hire artists to help tell a story that belongs to everyone,” Pilko said. “These Pittsburgh artists are some of the best and brightest in the area, and we’re gonna try to squeeze their greatness into this store. We’re gonna throw all the hip-hop, graffiti and Pittsburgh flare your way.”
