TribLive Taste Test: Wendy's brand-new spicy black bean burger
When the intrepid TribLive Taste Test team set out to try plant-based burger offerings from the major fast-food chains, Wendy’s was not among them.
Not to be outdone, the restaurant will debut a Spicy Black Bean Burger on June 28.
The black bean burger has been around before. Wendy’s test-marketed it in 2015 in Utah, South Carolina and the company’s home base in Columbus, Ohio.
This time around, it includes a black bean patty seasoned with a blend of spices, crunchy chipotle jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and a spicy chipotle sauce along with lettuce, onion and tomatoes.
And it is being test-marketed in Pittsburgh, Columbus and Jacksonville, Fla.
It’s part of the chain’s Made to Crave line-up, launched in 2019, which currently includes the Jalapeno Popper Chicken Sandwich, Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger and Big Bacon Classic Cheeseburger.
So how is it? Check out the video and find out!
The Spicy Black Bean Burger will be available at select Wendy’s for $5.79 in all three test markets.
