The iconic snack that went through a shake-up seven years ago is headed to the supermarket breakfast aisle.

Post has teamed up with Hostess to release Twinkies Cereal.

The cereal replicates the taste and oblong shape of the golden-colored snack cake, the company said in a release.

The cereal will be available nationwide in late December.

“In developing a cereal version of the iconic Twinkies, our top priority was focused on delivering the great Twinkies flavor in each bite,” said a brand manager at Post. “We think fans will find that it not only tastes great with milk but also outside the bowl.”

It follows two other snack-cereal mashups between the two companies: Post Hostess Honey Bun and Donettes Cereal are already available.

Twinkies have been around for 90 years. The production of the snack was halted in 2012 when the Hostess company filed for bankruptcy. A new company was formed and a year later the snacks were back on the shelf with a renewed interest from the public.
