Crayola is bringing a collection of eight “nostalgic fan-favorite crayon colors” — including Dandelion — out of retirement.

The decision marks the first time in Crayola’s 122-year history that retired colors are set to return, USA Today reported.

Crayola said it “received an outpouring of fan requests to bring back some of their retired favorites, especially since Dandelion left the crayon box in 2017.”

Back by popular demand, the limited-edition packs will include colors dating back to 1990, such as Orange Red and Violet Blue, according to USA Today.

“The decision to unretire these eight colors for a limited time will delight and surprise consumers, increase the brand’s available color palette and give a nod to the company’s first iconic eight crayon box launched in 1903,” Crayola said in a release.

The list of colors returning, according to People, include:

  • Dandelion
  • Blizzard Blue
  • Magic Mint
  • Mulberry
  • Orange Red
  • Violet Blue
  • Lemon Yellow
  • Raw Umber

“As a first in the history of Crayola, we could not be more excited to bring back this beloved limited-edition color collection that will give kids even more opportunities to colorfully put their imagination into action,” Victoria Lozano, Crayola’s chief marketing officer, said in a release.

The news is already taking social media by storm, especially for devoted fans like @_lakenzo_ — a TikToker with more than 1 million followers, who began collecting Dandelion following its discontinuation in 2017, People reported. Because the color was her favorite growing up, she’s been collecting ever since the brand took it off shelves, the outlet said.

Not only are the colors coming back in crayon form — but they’re coming back in limited-edition colored pencil and marker packs as well. The assortment of new products will include activity kits and themed coloring books, too, USA Today said.

Crayola is also partnering with brands such as Lee, Caboodles and S’well to offer “custom programs and products inspired by the limited-edition colors,” according to USA Today, adding it will also roll out “surprises” throughout the year, “especially during key seasonal moments such as back-to-school and holiday.”

There is no official date as to when the limited-edition packs will be launched, but they will be available soon at most national retailers including Target, Walmart, Staples and Blick, USA Today reported.

People can find their nearest retailer stocking Crayola products on the company’s website.
