Mother’s Day is the final day to register for more than 50 online courses Penn State Extension is offering to the public at no cost, to help families and businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.
Topics of the courses, which normally require a fee, include healthy meals, food safety, gardening tips, farming practices, grant-writing, business planning and strategies for managing volunteers.
Some of the course titles are: “Beef Production and Management,” “Beekeeping 101,” “Mediterranean Cuisine Comes to You,” “Totally Veggies,” “Plant Health Diagnosis,” “Private Wells and Water Systems Management,” “Growing Raspberries and Blackberries,” “Nutrition 101” and “Sanitary Transport of Human and Animal Food.”
A course of particular interest for some essential businesses during the pandemic, “Food Safety and Sanitation for Food Manufacturers,” is available at a discounted price of $275, reduced from $419.
About 79,000 people have registered for online extension courses since the free promotion begin in April.
Courses feature short videos, printable readings and knowledge-check questions. Some offer certificates or continuing-education credits.
