Not many moms will pass up a lovely brunch or dinner out on Mother’s Day.

The annual holiday also tends to be one of the busiest in the restaurant industry. So if you haven’t made those Mother’s Day reservations yet, there are plenty of options for a fun, relaxing celebration of your mom.

Among them:

Does she possess a green thumb? Head to a local greenhouse or nursery and tell her to pick out a few of her favorites. Take them home and plant them for her.

Or, if she might be more interested in tiptoeing through — or at least past — the tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and hundreds of other flowers, take her to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

Skip the Mother’s Day crowds on Sunday and take her on Saturday, when she can enjoy both the May Market and the opening day of “Van Gogh In Bloom.”

Maybe she’s more of an art aficionado? She can take her pick of fine museums the region, from Greensburg’s The Westmoreland Museum of American Art to Ligonier’s Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, any of Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Museums or The Frick Pittsburgh.

If it’s a walk on the wild side she enjoys, take mom back to childhood and visit the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. You are sure to see lots of mom and offspring combinations there, human and otherwise.

Mom craving a tropical getaway? No passport needed, just look skyward — and maybe wear a hat or scarf — at the National Aviary on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

This weekend’s activities include “Masters of the Sky,” where visitors can meet the aviary’s birds of prey.

How about taking a walk and, if mom has taught you well, plan ahead and pack a picnic basket. Score some points with sandwiches, cheese, a bottle of her favorite wine (check the alcohol policy in advance) and a dessert from her favorite bakery.

But first, work up an appetite exploring Schenley Park or Frick Park.

For water views, visit Northmoreland Park near Apollo, Keystone State Park near New Alexandria, Twin Lakes Park near Latrobe or head to Laurel Hill State Park in Somerset County.

All are pretty spectacular, especially when the weather cooperates.

How about picking up a bottle of wine or a six-pack to share with mom on the front porch? We have some suggestions for you here and here.

And if she just wants to veg, head to the nearest movie theater. Between rom coms, action and adventure and drama, she’s sure to enjoy some screen time and an escape from reality. (P.S.: Everyone is sure to love those Avengers!)

Spring for the big tub of popcorn and throw in the king-size candy bar. This is your mom. She’s worth it.
