Here are 5 things to do in Pittsburgh this weekend: Nov. 28-30
The leftovers are packed in the fridge and the family is still hanging around for a couple more days. What to do? You can show them how fun and bright Pittsburgh is with these events. Enjoy!
Beers of the Burgh’s Winter Warmer
Get ready for some fancy holiday cheer and delicious drinks with the Winter Warmer event from Beers of the Burgh. Stay toasty with a variety of local winter beers at The Pennsylvanian on Saturday night.
To make things extra cozy, this year’s dress code is pajamas, so put on your softest, shiniest and most fun winter comfy clothes for a dance party curated by DJ Hoagie Dreams. Cold Friends Kitchen and Pittsburgh Smokehouse will be there with wintry eats to complement the best of ‘Burgh beers.
The 21+ event will be held at The Pennsylvanian in Downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday. Early admission begins at 5 p.m. and the general admission shindig goes from 6 to 9 p.m. Get tickets at beersoftheburgh.com.
‘Elmo and Friends Say Hello’
Keeping the kids occupied during the holiday break can pose a challenge, but Elmo is here to save the day. “Sesame Street” pals, including Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby and more, will visit the Byham Theater on Sunday for a family-friendly show full of fun.
The performance will include singing, dancing and familiar friends while the audience watches a game of hide and seek with Elmo’s puppy, Tango. Be aware that the show contains flashing lights, fog and confetti. It’s an 80-minute performance, including intermission.
“Elmo and Friends Say Hello” will be held at the Byham Theater in Downtown Pittsburgh at 2 and 6 p.m. on Sunday. For tickets, visit trustarts.org.
Bottlerocket Homecoming Dance
Thanksgiving weekend is the time when all of your old high school friends come back to town, which makes it the perfect time to get together and reminisce. Bottlerocket Social Hall in the Allentown neighborhood is providing the perfect venue for your mini-reunions with its Homecoming Dance.
Pull your fanciest attire out of the back of the closet and dance the night away with five DJs spinning tunes all night long, with plenty of throwbacks in the mix. There will even be a Homecoming Court and a parade.
The Bottlerocket Homecoming Dance will be held at Bottlerocket Social Hall on Friday at 8 p.m. For tickets, visit bottlerocketpgh.com.
Santa at the History Center
It’s never too early to get those letters to Santa written. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Santa will venture to the Heinz History Center in the Strip District to visit with kids looking to share their wish lists. For an extra dose of nostalgia, Santa will be stationed in the Great Hall in an exact replica of the old Kaufmann’s Santaland chair.
Come down, get photos and enjoy the holiday atmosphere along with all of the exhibits at the History Center. The Santa experience is included with admission, and kids 17 and under are admitted for free. Hours for Santa are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Learn more at heinzhistorycenter.org.
