In an effort to be more appealing — or would this count as “a peeling”? — Kennywood is rebranding its bumper cars.
Fresh for the 2024 season, the park’s Gran Prix attraction will see its 20 bumper cars re-themed with a nod to Kennywood’s iconic Potato Patch fries. Both the bumper cars and the Potato Patch will mark their 50th anniversary next season.
The new cars will painted as the Patch’s white-and-red stripe fry boxes with fries covered in cheese sauce coming out of the hood. An oversized fork will serve as the connector between the car and the ride’s electric ceiling.
“This classic ride showcases what Kennywood is known for, a perfect blend of modern thrills with a mix of the park’s beloved traditions,” says Rick Spicuzza, Kennywood’s assistant general manager. “The all-new Potato Patch themed bumper cars continue the massive multi-year park enhancement project, keeping Kennywood fun and unique for future generations to enjoy.”

Kennywood will have the ride’s cars ready before the start of next season.
In the meantime, the park is preparing to launch its popular Holiday Lights event on Saturday.
The event, which has been named one of USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice picks for the Best Theme Park Holiday Event, features more than 2 million twinkling lights. This year, visitors can experience an all-new Santa experience in Thomas Town. Up to 20 rides will be open during Holiday Lights.
This year, the park has expanded its calendar, adding an extra weekend to the season with 3 p.m. openings.
