A Murrysville couple will share their journey on Spain’s “El Camino” during a March 31 program in The Westmoreland Museum of American Art. In this AP file photo, several crosses of “Camino de Santiago” (The Way of St James) pilgrims, lie on the ground on the mountain of Iba–eta, as two people walk on the pilgrim route, near the French border in northern Spain.

The Notre Dame Club of Greensburg/Uniontown will host “A Pilgrimage on the El Camino” with Bill and Stephanie Kennedy on March 31 at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg.

The 7 p.m. program is free and open to the public.

The Mother of Sorrows Parish, Murrysville, couple will recall their September trek with thousands of fellow pilgrims, from college students to seniors.

They will share traversing the Pyrenees mountains in France and continuing westward across Spain for 500 miles on the famed “El Camino.”

The Camino de Santiago or “El Camino” is a walk following the footsteps of pilgrims since the Middle Ages. Its focal point is the city of Santiago de Compostela, where legend has it that the martyr St. James is buried. Pilgrims cross the globe to make the trek for reasons ranging from spiritual quests, cultural and historical interest, the physical challenge or as a low-cost way to see Europe, according to a club release.

The Kennedys will share stories of encounters with fellow walkers, the Spanish culture they enjoyed, including tapas and local wines, visiting historic cities and more.
