Fireworks from PNC Park seem to be at eye level from the spacious penthouse on Ninth Street in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The two-level loft, perched high above the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts school, has four views on different angles of the city.

“I can see the fireworks from right here,” said Dr. Mark Piasio, as he stood in the kitchen looking out the window. “When I am watching a game on TV I can hear the crowd roar, and I know something good just happened.”

Having such gorgeous views was definitely a selling point for Piasio and his wife, Paula Cherry, an attorney, when they purchased the condominium in 2012.

The property is on the market for $1.5 million through Piatt Sotheby’s International Realty.

The home has a private entrance. There are three parking spaces in an underground garage.

The open floor plan of the 2,900-square foot unit, built in 2006, creates the look of a much larger space. Walls are painted in shades of gold, bronze and green with a Venetian plaster effect, as described by Piatt Sotheby’s.

There are Brazilian marble countertops in the kitchen and a custom chandelier in the dining area. The master bedroom features a wall of windows, just one instance of the abundant natural light throughout.

In the 400-square-foot master bathroom, there is a multi-person shower. There are three custom-designed walk-in closets, two in the master bedroom and one in the guest bedroom.

Piasio, who is originally from Brooklyn, said some penthouses there are more like gray boxes, but this one is unique.

“The views are remarkable,” Piasio said. “We love living in this space. We are right here in the city. We can walk to games or restaurants or to the Cultural District. We fell in love with this space when we came here. When I walk through the door I feel like I am home. And we get to see this view, this view every day.”
