The folks at Mattel did their part to lighten the mood for children and support frontline workers in the fight against covid-19.

Earlier this month, the company introduced its #ThankYouHeroes Barbie program. For every career doll sold between May 14-17, Mattel donated a doll to the First Responders Children’s Foundation.

The line of dolls, which “spotlights everyday heroes supporting the community,” features a number of essential professions, including doctors, nurses, firefighters, scientists and food service employees.

Barbie is also stepping up and offering some guidance to kids during this unprecedented pandemic situation.

And while the “official Barbies” are keeping it light for the little ones, the “unofficial ones” are keeping it real for the big kids among us.

Enter the “Quarantine Barbie.”

The mastermind behind these creations, Tonya Ruiz, explains the process of creating these oh-so relatable Barbies.
