Swimply lets you rent strangers' swimming pools by the hour
Your neighbor’s pool can look mighty tempting on a hot summer day. Now, there’s a chance you can book a couple of hours of time in their swimming hole.
Swimply is a swimming pool rental network that allows owners to make a few bucks by letting strangers take a dip during unused hours. Think Airbnb for pools.
Those fortunate enough to have a body of cool water in their backyard can recoup some of that cost by listing it on Swimply with photos, a description, price and availability. You can also set your own rules for how guests can use the pool.
How about a restroom for these swimmers? Swimply can arrange a portable potty to be on site if you prefer not to give access to your home.
The listing is free but Swimply takes a 15% service fee.
The website handles scheduling and payment. You are not required to be home when the renters arrive.
Swimmers seeking water can search for pools near their home or a vacation destination.
Listings will feature the amenities that are includes, such as towels, lounge chairs, pool toys and barbecue grills. Rates ranged widely but started below $50 per hour in Florida and Arizona.
A quick search found no results in the Pittsburgh area at this time.
