Outer Banks beachcombers find ancient shark tooth

Tourists in the Outer Banks found a fossilized great white shark tooth, according to staff at the N.C. Aquarium’s Jennette’s Pier.
There are large fossil deposits along the North Carolina coast but not everyone is lucky enough to spot an ancient bone while walking the beach.
Beachcombers last week found a fossilized tooth from a prehistoric shark and got some verification from the experts at North Carolina Aquariums’ Jennette’s Pier facility at Nags Head.
“Michael and Sara Cubberley of Roanoke, Va. found this fossilized great white shark’s tooth on a Kitty Hawk beach June 15,” said the staff on Facebook.
“The couple was thrilled with the find, which was verified by several N.C. Aquariums’ staff members,” the post continued.
