Workers are seen inside the nearly finished Pittsburgh International Airport terminal that’s under construction in Moon.

Registration to attend Pittsburgh International Airport’s open house of the new terminal opened to the public Friday.

The $1.7 billion modernization project began in 2019 and is offering 10,000 people a first look at the terminal’s updated features on Oct. 11 from noon to 7 p.m.

“We’ve said from the beginning that this new state-of-the-art terminal is built for Pittsburgh, by Pittsburgh and we are excited to open the doors to the public to tour,” Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said in a news release.

To attend, visitors must select a one-hour time slot. Adult will need to register separately and should use a unique email address for registration, but are able put children under the age of 18 with their registration.

Those visiting the open house should expect to see opportunity to see the new terminal ceiling and lighting that “reflects the rolling hills and stars of Western Pennsylvania and the tree columns that reflect the region’s trees,” according to a release.

The open house follows Pittsburgh International Airport’s “public trial” on Sept. 20, where over 2,000 members of the public are expected test the new terminal’s systems, as well as the Oct. 3 gala for partners and organizations involved in building the project.
